Redis 8.0 reaches end of life on Redis Cloud on 1 December
A quiet night with one backfill. Added: Redis 8.0 reaches end of life on Redis Cloud on 1 December 2026, a Short-Term Support version that Redis Cloud will auto-upgrade on remaining Essentials databases. The date is scoped to Redis Cloud managed version support, not self-hosted Redis. Nothing new entered or changed from the monitored feeds; the two imminent Azure retirements re-checked last night still hold. Plus the busy run of dates still on the board.
A quiet night on the feeds. Nothing new surfaced from the monitored sources and no recorded date moved, so tonight is a single backfill from the upcoming board.
Added: Redis 8.0 end of life on Redis Cloud
Redis 8.0 reaches end of life on Redis Cloud on 1 December 2026. Redis’s version-management documentation lists 8.0 as a Short-Term Support release in Preview status, available on the Essentials plan and already closed to new databases.
The date looks odd next to the version numbers. Redis 7.2 and 7.4 are supported to December 2029, and 8.2 to September 2030, all later than 8.0. That is because 8.0 is a Short-Term Support version while those three are Long-Term Support. STS versions on Redis Cloud get six months past the next release; LTS versions get five years. The ordering follows the support model, not the version sequence.
At end of life, Redis Cloud auto-upgrades an Essentials database still on 8.0 to the next minor version during a maintenance window, and Essentials keeps minor-version auto-upgrade switched on at all times. The safest place to land is Redis 8.2, the current LTS, supported to September 2030. Redis 8.4 is an option but is another STS version ending in January 2027, so it only defers the work.
One boundary matters, because “Redis 8.0 end of life” reads broader than it is. This date governs Redis Cloud managed version support. A self-hosted Redis 8.0, including Redis Community Edition and Redis Software, runs on a separate lifecycle and is not affected.
Re-verified, no change
The two imminent Azure retirements re-checked last night remain due for their under-30-day window and both dates still hold against Microsoft’s release-communications API: Azure Databricks Runtime 10.4 LTS on 1 November 2026 and Azure Functions support for PowerShell 7.4 on 10 November 2026.
The next few weeks on the board
Dates ahead, each verified against its primary source: Windows 11 24H2 end of servicing and Reddit RSS feeds ending (both 13 Oct), Microsoft Sentinel containerized SAP connector images removed (14 Oct), Cloudflare Workers KV legacy API (15 Oct), OpenSSL 3.4 end of life and Minimus shutdown (both 22 Oct), OpenAI GPT-4 / GPT-3.5 / o1 / o3 model removals (23 Oct), Kubernetes 1.34 end of life (27 Oct), Fitbit’s legacy Web API turned off (30 Oct), and OpenAI’s hosted Evals platform going read-only (31 Oct). Full board with live countdowns on the calendar.
