Windows 11 24H2 stops receiving updates on Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations

What this means for you
After this date, Home and Pro machines still running 24H2 receive no further monthly updates, security ones included. The machine keeps working; it simply stops being patched. Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise editions of 24H2 are serviced a year longer, to 12 October 2027, and Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is unaffected until 2029.
Where to go
Update to version 25H2, which is delivered as an enablement package on 24H2 devices rather than a full feature update — a restart, not a reinstall. Fleets that defer feature updates through Windows Update for Business or WSUS should check that their deferral policy will not hold devices on 24H2 past October.

Microsoft services consumer and business editions of the same Windows release on different clocks, and 24H2 is a clean illustration: identical build, identical version number, two end-of-servicing dates a year apart depending on which edition is installed.
The trap is mixed estates. An organisation that thinks of itself as “on Enterprise” usually has Pro machines in it — devices bought retail, contractor laptops, kiosks, the ones that never went through imaging. Those follow the October 2026 date, and nothing about the machine announces which clock it is on.
The check is quick: edition and version, per device, before October.
