Quick answers

Is it true that Windows 11 version 23H2 end of servicing (Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise)?
Yes. Microsoft has officially announced it, effective 10 Nov 2026. After 10 November 2026, machines still on Windows 11 version 23H2 running the Enterprise, Education or IoT Enterprise edition receive no further monthly updates, security fixes included.
When does it take effect?
10 Nov 2026. Verified against the vendor's own announcement.
What should I use instead?
Move to a serviced release before the date.

What this means for you

After 10 November 2026, machines still on Windows 11 version 23H2 running the Enterprise, Education or IoT Enterprise edition receive no further monthly updates, security fixes included. The machine keeps working; it simply stops being patched. The Home and Pro editions of 23H2 already reached end of servicing a year earlier, in November 2025, so this date closes out the last serviced 23H2 editions. Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC and IoT Enterprise LTSC releases follow their own, much longer lifecycles and are unaffected.

Where to go

Move to a serviced release before the date. Version 25H2 is delivered as an enablement package on 23H2/24H2 devices — a restart, not a reinstall. Fleets that defer feature updates through Windows Update for Business, Intune or WSUS should confirm their deferral policy will not strand devices on 23H2 past November, and that target devices meet the Windows 11 24H2/25H2 hardware floor.

  • Windows 11 version 25H2
  • Windows 11 version 24H2 (Enterprise/Education serviced to 2027-10-12)

Windows 11 version 23H2 reaches end of servicing on 10 November 2026 for the editions that are still getting updates: Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise. Microsoft’s Windows release-health table lists the 23H2 General Availability Channel (OS build 22631) with an “End of updates” date of 2026-11-10 for these editions.

After that date, a device left on 23H2 keeps running but receives no further monthly quality or security updates. The Home and Pro editions of 23H2 hit their own end of servicing a year earlier, in November 2025, so November 2026 closes out the last serviced 23H2 editions. Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC and IoT Enterprise LTSC are separate, long-lifecycle products and are not affected by this date.

The move is to a currently serviced feature update — version 25H2, which installs on existing 23H2/24H2 machines as an enablement package (a restart rather than a full reinstall), or 24H2, whose Enterprise and Education editions are serviced to 12 October 2027. Managed fleets should check that any Windows Update for Business, Intune or WSUS deferral policy will not hold devices on 23H2 past the date, and that the hardware meets the 24H2/25H2 requirements.
