Standard Notes is sunsetting Listed, its publishing/blogging platform; the site and all public blogs go offline

Standard Notes is retiring Listed, the blogging platform it ran alongside its privacy-first note-taking app. The announcement is direct about the date: “The Listed platform will permanently shut down December 31, 2026.”

Listed always sat a little to the side of Standard Notes’ core product — a way for note-takers to publish a post as a public blog, complete with a guestbook and, for some, a custom domain. The company’s reasoning is that the feature became “virtually unused as many other platforms supporting writers have emerged,” and it wants to refocus on the note-taking app itself. Fair enough — but if you are one of the people still using it, the practical effect is that a public blog you have been maintaining stops being public at the end of the year.

The reassuring half of the announcement is that your words are not being deleted. Anything you published on Listed remains available inside your personal Standard Notes account, so the content survives the shutdown. What does not survive is the public presence: the website, your blog, past posts and the guestbook all become inaccessible on 31 December 2026, and the listed.to URLs people have bookmarked or linked stop working.

Two things are worth doing before the cutoff. If you want the posts to stay online somewhere, export them and republish on another platform — a static-site generator on your own domain, or a lightweight blog host, will outlast any single vendor’s roadmap. And if you pointed a custom domain at Listed, update that domain’s DNS to a new home before 31 December; the announcement notes the domain will stop serving your blog when Listed is retired, so the sooner you move it, the fewer dead links you leave behind.
