GitHub retires six more Copilot models, Ubuntu 26.10 gets a July 2027 end date, and OpenSSL 3.4 is two days out
Two new entries tonight, both from official sources. GitHub deprecated another six Copilot models — Gemini 3.7 Flash, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, GPT-5.4 mini, GPT-5 mini and Grok 4.5 — on October 19, the latest in its monthly model-retirement cadence. Ubuntu's interim 26.10 release ("Stonking Stingray") now carries a July 1, 2027 end-of-life date. Nothing recorded changed its date. One archive backfill was also added — GitLab removing compliance pipelines in 20.0. On the board: OpenSSL 3.4 and the Minimus shutdown are two days out, with nine more dated sunsets before mid-November.
Two new entries tonight, both sourced to official primaries. Nothing already on the board moved its date.

GitHub deprecated six more Copilot models on October 19. Gemini 3.7 Flash, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, GPT-5.4 mini, GPT-5 mini and Grok 4.5 are gone from most Copilot experiences — Chat, inline edits, ask and agent modes, and code completions. GitHub lists a replacement for each (Gemini 3.8 Flash; GPT-6.1 Sol; GPT-6 Luna; Grok 4.7). Most people just pick a supported model from the menu; the ones who need to act are anyone who named a now-retired model by identifier in a script, CI step, API integration, or enterprise allow-list policy. This is the latest round in GitHub’s rolling monthly model-deprecation cadence, following the September and early-October rounds, with more scheduled for mid-November.

Ubuntu 26.10 reaches end of life on July 1, 2027. The interim (non-LTS) release “Stonking Stingray” shipped October 15, 2026 and gets the standard ~9-month interim support window. After the date, Canonical stops shipping security updates — the quiet dead end for anything pinned to
ubuntu:26.10, in a Dockerfile or on a box. The 26.04 LTS line is untouched (supported into 2031). Detectable by thelastcallCLI via theubuntu:26.10base-image tag.
Also added to the archive
- GitLab is removing compliance pipelines in GitLab 20.0 (20 May 2027). A backfill of a known, officially-documented GitLab removal. Compliance pipelines — the way teams force required CI jobs to run in projects tagged with a compliance framework — are being retired in favour of the pipeline execution policy type. Deprecated since 17.3; the migration path is GitLab’s own. Verified against GitLab’s deprecations page.
