JetBrains pulls Swift language IDE support out of the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin — move Swift editing to Xcode
One new entry tonight: JetBrains is discontinuing Swift language IDE features (editing, highlighting, navigation) in the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin from IntelliJ IDEA 2026.3 and Android Studio Rabbit 2 — iOS run/debug of Kotlin is unaffected. Plus the week ahead on the board.
A quiet night on the monitored sources, with one new signaled entry to add and no date changes on existing entries.
New: JetBrains discontinues Swift language IDE support in the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin
In an official Kotlin blog post, JetBrains says that starting with IntelliJ IDEA 2026.3 and Android Studio Rabbit 2 (2026.2.2) it is discontinuing Swift language IDE features in the Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) plugin — editing, syntax highlighting, and navigation in Swift files and between Swift and Kotlin.
What stays: running iOS applications and debugging Kotlin code on iOS remain fully supported, and Kotlin/Native features including Swift Export and importing Swift packages into Kotlin projects are untouched. The existing Swift tooling also keeps working in earlier IDE versions, which will not be updated further.
There is no calendar date — the change is tied to the IDE release versions, so the entry carries no countdown. JetBrains’ reasoning is limited and declining usage: most KMP iOS developers already edit Swift in Xcode, which is where it points anyone who relied on the in-IDE tooling.
The next few weeks on the board
Also added to the archive tonight: Microsoft Sentinel removes the containerized SAP data connector images (14 Oct — migrate to the agentless SAP data connector; the connector itself already retired 14 Sep), verified against Microsoft’s migration guide and the Azure release-communications notice.
Re-verified against their primary sources tonight, dates unchanged: EWS worldwide allow-list enforcement (10 Oct — Microsoft begins disabling EWS in Exchange Online, fully disabled April 2027), Windows 11 24H2 end of servicing (13 Oct) alongside Reddit RSS feeds ending (13 Oct), Cloudflare Workers KV legacy API (15 Oct), Minimus shutdown (22 Oct), OpenAI GPT-4 / GPT-3.5 / o1 / o3 models (23 Oct), and Kubernetes 1.34 end of life (27 Oct). Full board with live countdowns on the calendar.
