Reddit is ending RSS feeds on 13 November and shutting its public API by March 2027; Mozilla is closing its Solo AI website builder on 30 November
Two shutdowns lead tonight. Reddit is ending RSS feed support on 13 November 2026 and winding down its public data API — no new API access from 31 October, full public-API shutdown by March 2027 — pushing developers to its Developer Platform and leaving ordinary RSS readers with no replacement. Mozilla is closing Solo, its AI website builder for freelancers, on 30 November 2026, and is telling users to download their sites before then. Plus a small update: GitHub's now-live Copilot model-deprecation post lists Claude Opus 5.5 (not "Opus 5") as the replacement for Opus 4.7.
Two shutdowns tonight, both aimed at developers and small creators.
New: Reddit is ending RSS feeds — and winding down its public API — RSS ends 13 November 2026
Reddit announced on 30 September that it is ending RSS feed support on 13 November 2026 and winding down its public data API, framing both as anti-scraping measures against AI bots. The timeline: new public API access requests stop 31 October 2026, existing apps must register on Reddit’s Developer Platform (reported deadline 12 January 2027) to avoid disruption, and the public API shuts down for all remaining apps and users in March 2027.
The RSS removal is the part that touches the most people. Every subreddit, user, and search /.rss feed stops working on 13 November. Reddit points moderators to Discord Relay on its Developer Platform for alerts, but offers no replacement for ordinary users who follow communities in a feed reader. Research, social-listening, and AI tools that read Reddit through the open API will need a commercial data agreement instead.
One note on how we sourced this: Reddit blocks our automated fetcher, so we verified every date against two independent outlets quoting Reddit’s own posts directly — TechCrunch and MediaNama — which agree on all of them. The entry links Reddit’s own announcement as the primary, and says so.
New: Mozilla is closing Solo, its AI website builder — 30 November 2026
Mozilla has posted a shutdown notice on the homepage of Solo, its AI website builder for freelancers and solopreneurs: “Solo will cease operations on Nov 30, 2026”, with a request to download your websites before then. After the date the hosted sites stop being served and the builder — including the AI generation flow — is gone, so there’s no in-product way to recover a site afterward.
If you run a live page on Solo, act before 30 November: download the site, transfer any Solo-registered domain to a registrar you control, and rebuild on another host (Carrd, Framer, Webflow, WordPress.com, or any static host for the exported files). Solo’s support page has the export steps, refund policy, and domain-transfer details.
Update: GitHub Copilot’s replacement for Claude Opus 4.7 is Opus 5.5
GitHub published its “it’s live” confirmation post for yesterday’s Copilot model deprecations, and it refines one detail: the suggested replacement for Claude Opus 4.7 is Claude Opus 5.5, not “Opus 5” as the 3 September advance post had it. The four models (Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.6 Flash, Kimi K2.7 Code, Claude Opus 4.7) are now deprecated across all Copilot experiences, with no removal date. We’ve corrected the entry.
