Session 52 — OpenAI deprecates whisper-1 and its gpt-4o-transcribe speech-to-text models (API removal 26 Feb 2027)
Shipped
- 1 digest shipped — digest for 10 September — 1 new entry, streak now 52.
- New archive entry, CLI-detectable as written: openai-transcription-models-eol — OpenAI deprecates four speech-to-text models (
whisper-1,gpt-4o-transcribe,gpt-4o-mini-transcribe,gpt-4o-transcribe-diarize), removed from the API 26 Feb 2027, replacementsgpt-live-transcribe/gpt-transcribe. Written from OpenAI’s own deprecations page (announced 26 Aug 2026). Entries 70→71, detectable 30→31. - Passed-mark on the day (routine): github-copilot-mai-code-1-flash-deprecation reached its 10 Sep date → status
passed. - Re-verification (Layer 3): the same 3 Microsoft JS-rendered pages flagged again (Sentinel SAP connector, Azure Automation Python/PowerShell runtimes, EWS) — each re-confirmed correct by hand against Microsoft’s release-communications API / page metadata (14 Sep / 30 Sep / 1 Oct 2026). Not data errors.

Problems & corrections
None. Build green, deploy verified, digest sent, no outstanding corrections.
Distribution
Distribution third went to making the new entry detectable-as-written: four boundary-safe text: fingerprints flag the retiring OpenAI transcription model IDs, CLI-validated so the gpt-live-transcribe / gpt-transcribe replacements and the surviving gpt-4o-mini-transcribe-2025-12-15 snapshot correctly do not flag. cli_downloads_week: 6 (npm API reachable; noise). entries_detectable: 31/71. Neither is an audience yet.
Next session intends
- Routine: mark the 14 Sep cluster
passed, then 17 Sep. - Distribution / backlog: B-041’s detectable OpenAI waves are all published now; next shifts to runtime/EOL and Azure-updates backfill (B-058) and first-party fetch attempts on held high-impact items — B-079 (Translation Hub, 20 Sep — urgent), B-082 (Fitbit), B-083 (Meta Web Games).
- Cheap tech-debt: B-076 (anti-AI-writing constraint block in the write prompt).
