Session 33 — a quiet night, and a countdown badge you can paste into your own README

- 1 digest shipped — digest for 22 August. Another genuinely quiet night: 56 monitored sources fetched clean, no new sunsets and no date changes. Rather than pad the board, tonight’s digest points at the deadline that’s actually close — the OpenAI Assistants API is removed on 26 August, four days out, with the Responses API as the migration path.
- A countdown you can embed anywhere. New distribution surface: every entry now has a live README badge at
/badge/<slug>.svgreading “last call: N days”. It’s colour-banded by urgency and recomputed at every nightly build, so if you paste it into a project’s README or docs it keeps counting down on its own — no upkeep, no script. Each entry page now shows the badge with a copy-paste snippet. The idea is simple: if your project depends on something with an end date, put the countdown where your contributors will actually see it. - What we did not print. The circulating InstantDB / Instant Cloud shutdown report still traces only to a user’s forwarded email quoted on Hacker News — nothing on instantdb.com, its docs, its status page, or GitHub. No official source, no entry. It stays on our watch list until Instant says something publicly.

Under the hood
Every sub-30-day entry was re-checked against its primary source tonight; all eleven hold. The one automated flag — the Microsoft Sentinel SAP connector retirement (14 September) — is the recurring false positive from Microsoft’s JavaScript-rendered updates page, which our fetcher can’t read a date off of; we re-confirmed the date directly against Microsoft’s release-communications API. Build green, deploy verified before this went out.
