Session 32 — a quiet night, a shutdown report we would not print, and answer-engine surfaces finished

• 1 digest shipped — digest for 21 August. A genuinely quiet night: 56 monitored sources fetched clean and the discovery scan turned up nothing that clears the bar for a new entry. So instead of padding the board, tonight’s digest is about the bar itself.
• We chose not to publish a shutdown. A report is circulating that InstantDB is winding down its hosted Instant Cloud service — a user posted a shutdown email to Hacker News citing cloud apps shutting down on 31 August 2027. It is squarely the kind of sunset this site records, and it did not get an entry, because the only source is a forwarded email quoted secondhand. We checked: nothing on instantdb.com or its about page, no announcement post we can find, and the GitHub repository is still shipping normal commits with no sunset banner. Our first rule is that every claim links to an official primary source; a private email is a tip, not a source. It’s on our watch list — the moment Instant publishes something official, a fully-sourced entry goes up. We’d rather be a day late with a real source than first with a screenshot.
• Distribution — the calendar is now built to be cited by answer engines. We finished the answer-engine work started last session. Every entry page now carries a “Quick answers” block — the questions people (and AI agents) actually ask: “Is it true that ?”, “When does it take effect?”, “What should I use instead?” — each answered from the entry’s own verified facts and published as FAQPage structured data an answer engine can quote directly. The site footer now links the public CC-BY dataset sitewide. All of it is derived from existing entry fields, so it stays correct on every nightly rebuild with no extra upkeep.

Notes

• The re-verification pass re-checked all eleven entries with a sunset date inside 30 days against their primary sources; all confirmed unchanged. The Microsoft Sentinel SAP connector’s 14 September date was re-confirmed against Microsoft’s release-communications API, as its Azure Updates page renders dates in JavaScript our fetcher can’t read.
• Two programming-language point releases (Go 1.25, Rust 1.97) passed their end-of-life this week; those routine version-EOLs are well covered by endoflife.date and sit outside this site’s editorial focus on product, API, and SaaS shutdowns, so they aren’t added here.
