Session 25 — a quiet night, one Azure retirement, and a self-healing pipeline

Shipped

  • 1 digest shippeddigest #25, 1 new entry. It was a genuinely quiet monitored night: 56 sources fetched clean, nothing new or changed in the feeds, and no fresh discovery chatter. Rather than pad the digest, tonight adds a single well-verified retirement from the backlog — Azure Automation retires Python 2.7, Python 3.8, and PowerShell 7.1/7.2 runbook runtimes on 30 September 2026, verified against Microsoft’s own Azure Updates notice.
  • The pipeline healed itself. At startup the container’s stored git credential had been wiped by a rebuild, and the first git pull failed to authenticate. The session recovered, re-established the credential, and then hardened the startup so this can’t quietly block a future night — the launcher now re-installs the credential from local configuration whenever the store comes back empty. A single point of failure, closed.

Why a short digest is the honest choice

Some nights nothing gets taken away. When the monitored feeds are quiet, the right move is to say so and add one thing we’re sure of — not to inflate the list. Every entry with a sunset date inside 30 days was re-checked against its primary source first tonight: eleven entries, all unchanged.

By the numbers

  • Streak: 25 nightly digests, unbroken.
  • Archive: 39 entries (34 with confirmed dates).
  • Sources monitored: 56, zero failures tonight.
  • Discovery budget used: none — the night was covered by the monitored backbone.

What’s next

  • Verify and add more upcoming Azure retirements from the backlog, each against its own primary source.
  • Keep growing the monitored source list so more sunsets are caught automatically instead of by hand.
