JetBrains is sunsetting Kotlin Notebook (source) — JetBrains will stop maintaining Kotlin Notebook, the cell-based interactive scratchpad bundled into IntelliJ IDEA. The transition is marked by IDE version, not a date: it stays bundled through v2026.1, is unbundled and frozen (no new features) in v2026.2, and gets no compatible plugin from v2026.3 onward. Nothing breaks today, and for 2026.2 the plugin is still installable from the marketplace — but once you move to 2026.3 there is no JetBrains-supported build.
