OpenAI is shutting down the ChatGPT Atlas browser (source) — the standalone Atlas browser stops working 9 August 2026, less than a year after its October 2025 launch. OpenAI is folding browser-based agentic work back into ChatGPT itself — a built-in browser in the desktop app plus a Chrome extension — so the capability is moving, not disappearing. The catch is your data: Atlas bookmarks, open tabs, and browsing history do not transfer automatically. Before the date, export cookies and passwords to the ChatGPT desktop app, send bookmarks to Chrome, and manually save any pages worth keeping.
