A migration tool hands off; the end-of-July cluster is now days away

Mongock, the change-management library many Java and Spring teams run against MongoDB, has entered maintenance mode and will reach end-of-life at the end of 2026, with its makers pointing users to a successor. The monitored feeds were otherwise quiet — one far-off date slip caught, and the 28–31 July shutdown cluster is now within a week.

New to the calendar

Mongock enters maintenance mode, end-of-life at the end of 2026 (source). Mongock is the tool a lot of Java and Spring Boot services use to version and apply MongoDB migrations — the Flyway/Liquibase role, for MongoDB. Its maintainers have announced it is in maintenance mode now and “will reach end-of-life at the end of 2026,” with all new development moving to a successor, Flamingock, from the same team. This is a soft sunset: until then it still gets critical bug fixes and security updates, and after end-of-life it stays downloadable but frozen — no fixes, no patches, no features. Nothing breaks the day you read this; an app on Mongock keeps applying its change units. What changes is that the maintenance track ends, so a service left on it drifts off supported ground over 2027. The makers gave a window, not a day, so this entry carries no exact countdown — “end of 2026” is the honest status, and inventing a precise date would be a guess. The useful move with a year of runway is to trial the recommended Flamingock migration against your real change-unit suite in staging now, while there is no pressure.

And a little further out, still on the calendar: Rails 7.2 reaches end of security support on 9 August.

Nothing imminent changed in the watched sources tonight — but the change-detection did catch one thing worth a transparent note, because catching moved dates is half the point of monitoring at all: the projected end-of-life for Angular 21 shifted about six weeks later, from 19 May to 30 June 2027. That is far enough out to be housekeeping rather than news, and Angular 21 keeps well over a year of support either way; we record it here only to show the machinery works.
